Who we need

Reporting to the Associate Director, Field Training, the Practicum Coordinator is responsible for supporting students with assistance during their practicum placements, provide support, and act as liaison between students and Field Training department. This position involves collaborating with faculty and students to ensure a meaningful and effective practicum that prepares future educators for their teaching careers; provides guidance, feedback, and mentorship to practicum students, facilitating their growth and development as reflective practitioners in real classroom settings. Contributes to a working environment where all team members can be their best selves, grow and thrive, to support our corporate mission of championing student success.

What you will do

  • Monitor and manage student’s Practicum Hours and be aware of potential “red flags” to report to Senior Practicum Coordinator.
  • Co-facilitate weekly Office Hours session.
  • Perform viability checking on student’s submission on Mandatory Video Presentation and email students in case of resubmission.
  • Assist students in special requests / special cases (practicum extension, new site, terminated from site, etc.).
  • Maintain documents related to student’s performance (Evaluation Form, Formative Feedback Form, etc.).
  • Act as point of contact to coordinate student reviews between Practicum Instructors, Associate Dean of Field Training, and Associate Director, Practicum Coordination.
  • Read and respond to student emails/tickets within 24 hours.
  • Review course Bulletins material to ensure that it’s up-to-date.
  • Document significant communication between students and Practicum Coordinator in Communication Log in student’s folder on the Shared Drive.
  • Forward student issues to appropriate department (e.g.: tech issues to IT through AskYU, assignment questions to Practicum Instructor, etc.)Contributing to a positive corporate culture that supports our core values.

What you bring

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2 years+ professional experience in related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and data management, and can quickly learn other software programs.
  • Team player who can work autonomously and manage large volumes of confidential paperwork effectively.
  • Able to build trusting and influential relationships, and possess strong competencies in conflict resolution and crisis management.
  • Able to professionally engage in high-level communications and provide information to prospective and/or current graduate students, university staff, and faculty.
  • Attuned to serving needs of diverse population of graduate students and can navigate barriers with cultural sensitivity.
