Who we need

Reporting to the Program Chair, Bachelor of Interior Design, the Associate Chair, Bachelor of Interior Design is responsible for providing academic and professional support for the continued development and effective delivery of the program’s courses, curriculum planning and development, to ensure the continuing quality assurance of the course offerings. They will be required to work on-site at the Concord Campus located at 2000 Steeles Ave W. The Associate Chair strives to support students’ academic achievement and successful outcomes; supports the program’s academic governance, including assisting with developing and implementing policy on Program Advisory Committees as applicable.

What you will do

  • Support leadership and vision for the program; curriculum planning and development as it supports the growing needs of the university.
  • Maintain and deliver the university’s Signature Learning Outcomes (SLOs),
  • Deliver distinctive capabilities in accordance with the university core values
  • Assist with the review and updating of all curriculum materials; review course selection for quality assurance.
  • Liaise with the Teaching & Learning department to ensure best practices in the delivery of courses.
  • Assure adherence to all academic policies and appeals procedures.
  • Assist with all relevant program committees, orientations, open houses and determination and review of program KPIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Admissions, Marketing and Communications and Student Services.
  • As a member of the academic team, act as a brand ambassador, contribute to the promotion of core values, distinctive capabilities and a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
  • Teach 8 courses per year; additional as per overload policy, requiring VPA permission.

What you bring

  • Earned Masters degree in interior design or a related field from a recognized/accredited institution in a related field.
  • NCIDQ certified professional, or in progress.
  • Currently licensed in relevant profession, as applicable.
  • At least 3 years’ administrative experience, with increasing responsibilities, in a post-secondary education environment (e.g. program development, program accreditation, program review, quality assurance practices, student and faculty policies, faculty hiring).
  • Experience teaching on-campus and online at the post-secondary level.
  • A leader with a vision for education and an understanding of the depth and breadth of what contributes to undergraduate education.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with teams across all functions.
  • A record of success in recruiting and retaining talented and diverse faculty; a champion of faculty eager to excel in teaching and creative activities; working with alumni, communities of practice and committees.
  • A strong commitment to post-secondary professional education, particularly for mature learners and/or international learners.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to the University’ strategic goals.
  • High personal integrity.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong focus on students with emphasis on retention, academic success, and wellbeing.
