Who we need

Reporting to the Director, IT Architecture, the Junior Technical Architect is responsible for support on the IT Architecture team, including technical solutions design, integration specifications, feasibility assessments, proof of concepts and end-to-end documentation. As an Individual Contributor, this position shares junior level knowledge and experience with team members by implementing initiatives and projects; assists with the review of processes, programs, policies and services; identifies ways to improve the student and/or employee experience; supports the management with strategies and objectives; and collaborates with internal key stakeholders, in alignment with our corporate strategic imperatives. This individual will work with other team members, most specifically our current technical architect, and acts as an advisor to management in design and technical feasibility for projects. What you will do

  • Own the design and architecture of system integrations and custom solutions, providing clear blueprints and technical guidance for developers to implement using Azure cloud, Microsoft Power Platform, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects within the IT Architecture team, with guidance from senior leadership, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand business needs, and develop technical solutions.
  • Adopt a holistic approach to solutioning by considering architecture, scalability, security, and integration requirements for end-to-end solutions.
  • Design and build Proof of Concepts (POCs) to demonstrate potential solutions and validate technical feasibility.
  • Develop apps and integrations that enhance existing systems and improve business processes.
  • Manage ad-hoc development tasks, ensuring they meet both technical and business requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation for technical designs, data flows, and test cases to ensure clarity and alignment with business objectives.
  • Share knowledge and best practices within the IT Architecture team to promote continuous learning and improvement.
  • Contribute to refining DevOps practices with a focus on CI/CD, ensuring solutions are efficiently deployed.
  • Ensure solutions follow best practices for scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance and compliance with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and data privacy legislation

What you bring

  • 2-3 years of experience in IT, preferably in a developer role, with expertise in Azure cloud, Microsoft Power Platform, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions.
  • Experience in gathering requirements, translating business needs into technical solutions, and developing Proof of Concepts (POCs).
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, API management, and technical architecture.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Holistic approach to solutioning with a focus on architecture, scalability, security, and integration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (or international equivalent)
  • PL-200, PL-400, or AZ-400 certification is a plus, but not required.
