Who we need

Reporting to the VP, Teaching and Learning, the Manager, Communications is responsible for leading and executing teaching- and learning-related internal and external communications initiatives, with an emphasis on the Learning Management (LMS) implementation and associated change management initiatives. The Manager, Communications abides by centralized standards and guidelines set by the Marketing and Communications team, and uses approved technologies, systems and channels to develop and share accessible content. The Manager collaborates with units across the organization to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging internal communicaitons. They provide thought leadership, and act as the lead writer and editor for key communications. The Manager, Communications collaborates daily with key internal and external stakeholders, in alignment with our strategic imperatives for the Teaching & Learning portfolio. What you will do

  • Drafting and designing teaching- and learning-related communications and reports for varied audiences, including Yorkville University and Toronto Film School faculty, staff, and students, as well as external audiences.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the currency of content for T&L associated web pages, including, but not limited to CTEI, Artificial Intelligence, and Signature Learning Outcome pages.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues in Marketing, Academics and Corporate Office, for all campuses and/or locations.
  • Informing and guiding choices around communication content, channels, and frequency in support of LMS implementation and Teaching & Learning team initiatives and events.
  • Seeking feedback from affected teams and T&L leadership and iterating communications as necessary.
  • Developing communications plans for teaching- and learning-related initiatives.
  • Contributing to a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
  • Applying and upholding brand, journalistic, and accessibility standards in all communications.

What you bring

  • 5-8 years of experience in communications and/or marketing, including experience with internal communications, corporate communications, and digital content creation. Experience relevant to academic settings, particularly higher education, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (or international equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in journalistic standards, digital communication, and accessible communications best practices, in support of the strategic imperatives.
  • Experience with various project management, content creation and design software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Asana, Photoshop, Canva, and Workshop.
